Simple Summer Treat Boxes

Hello Cutcardstock friends. It’s mid summer and the season is slipping away quickly. Birgit here with you today and I thought I’d share a fun project making simple summer treat boxes using all the pretty colors you can find in the store. These tiny treat boxes would be great to hand out at your next picnic or barbecue and they go together in a jiffy.

The Supplies:

The supplies I used are #83 Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink, #83 Lessebo Blossom Pink, #80 DCS Granny Smith, #65 Pop Tones Berrylicious, #105 Stardream Metallic Silver, #80 Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, 1/4″ Score-Tape Premium double sided adhesive and an envelope punch board.

Making The Box:

To begin with, cut the cardstock that you want to make the boxes out of to measure 6″ x 6″.

Using your envelope punch board, start by lining the left edge at the 1 1/2″ mark and then punch and score. Then, slide the cardstock to the 4″ mark and punch and score again.

Turn the cardstock and line up the scored lines with the point of the punch marker and punch and score on all the lines until you’ve gone around all four sides. Your cardstock panel should look like the one pictured above. Take notice that you have two wide corners and two narrow corners.

Then proceed to round all four corners using the back side of the punch button. Now, fold and score all the scored lines.

As I mentioned earlier, there are two corners that are larger in width. Using your scissors, you’ll want to cut the two scored lines on both sides of the wide corners, up to the first score line so it looks like this. Now you’re ready to assemble the box.

Assembling The Box:

To assemble the box, apply the double sided Score-Tape to the two flaps on either side of the wide corner. Do not mimic this step on the opposite side. Next, fold the sides into the large corner, securing it with the score tape. It will look like this:

As you can see, your box is starting to take shape. Put a piece of score tape on both flaps on the front of your box and fold the front of your box up and secure with the tape.

Here is a photo of the completed boxes.

Now it’s time to decorate the boxes. My favorite part!

Decorating The Boxes:

To decorate the sides of each box, I pulled out some fun summer patterns and cut two panels each measuring 2 1/8″ x 1 1/2″ and two panels measuring 1 1/2″ x 1 5/8″. I adhered the two larger panels to the front and back of each box and the smaller panels to each of the sides of the box. I used a circle punch to create the notch at the front of the box.

Next, I cut the pieces for the medallions out of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White and Stardream Metallic Silver cardstock.

I stamped a summer sentiment on the white cardstock circles and glued them to the metallic silver circles. I then glued the medallions to the tops of each box.

Now you can fill these sweet little boxes with treats!

The Finished Project:

Once they were all filled, I tied them closed with some bakers twine I had in my stash. They turned out so cute! The fun, summer colors of these sweet little treat boxes are the perfect addition to any gathering.
