Merry Mail Gift Card Holders

Tis the season for merriment and gifting! I know my family really prefers gift cards so they can do their own shopping but I often run out of ideas for how to give these in a clever way. How about you?

Hi, it’s Maureen with you today and I am demonstrating how to make adorable mailbox pockets to hold gift cards. Of course, we are using the insanely fun CutCardStock Stardream Metallic papers today – one of my favorites!

For this project, I’m using a die cut by Papertrey that makes a 3D mailbox. The paper I’ve chosen is Stardream Metallic Jupiter.

However, you will cut off the bottom panel because we won’t need it. Instead, we will take the side panel, fold it over and adhere it.

The next step is to cut out the letters from the kit that spells “mail” and glue them to the middle of the front panel. I’ve done those in Stardream Metallic Jupiter. I’ve also cut a mail slot in Stardream Pluto.

Once those are attached, take a tiny bit of white acrylic paint and add a little bit of water. Add flecks of paint to the front and back of the item. This will look like snow!

While this dries, prepare your sentiments. I’m using Stardream Metallic Pluto and Stardream Onyx Black. These are sentiment dies I had in my stash.

I also added accents of envelopes in Classic Solar White. To give these a Christmas feel, add 2 holly leaves in Granny Smith Apple Green and dust them with ink. Draw wavy postage lines on with a black pen.

The final edition is to add a tag for the back pocket. This is also done in Classic Solar White. You can attach a gift card with repositionable tape. A strip of DCS Dolphin Gray at the top will give it the look of a mailbox handle.

Gift card gifting has never been more fun! You could also punch a hole at the top and hang these like tag ornaments on your tree if you wish. I can imagine this in a metallic blue also.

How would you re-create this project with CutCardStock products? I’d love to hear from you below in the comments. Happy crafting and we will see you next time!
