Changing Colors Layout

Hey, CutCardStock friends, Cassie here today with a fall inspired layout!  A couple of weeks ago I took my daughter out to take some senior photos.  Just hours before we headed out for the photo session, I looked at a picture taken of her at the same exact park almost 13 years earlier.  Obviously, we had to re-create this image and luckily she was a good sport about this.  These two photos were the inspiration for this layout.

Getting Started

After I edited and printed my photos, I chose some cardstock.  I knew I wanted to use a background frame cut file of falling leaves, so I assembled colors that would be perfect for the variety of colors in fall leaves.

I started with two pieces of the DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White cardstock to use as the background and for the cut file. The other colors are DCS Red Pepper cardstock, DCS Textured Flame Tree Orange cardstock, Pop Tone Tangy Orange cardstock, DCS Canvas Textured Yellow Jacket cardstock, DCS Smooth Granny Smith Green cardstock and DCS Canvas Textured Ginger Snap cardstock.

It was time to cut out my background and a title using my Silhouette Cameo and a cut file from Peartree Cutfiles. I backed all the leaves with the remaining cardstock colors that I selected to use. I did this by gluing the cardstock to the back of each leaf and fussy cutting around the edges.

Creating My Background

My next step was to pull out some mixed media supplies to use on my second piece of DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White cardstock. I used a variety of three different spray inks and three colors of Lindy’s Magicals powders to add ink splatters and smears to my background.  I started with the lightest colors and worked my way up to the darker colors.  As a final touch I added some gold ink splatters.

Finishing the Page

My first step in assembling the layout was to attach the cut file to the background using foam tape. I did this by using foam tape for dimension.   Next I added my photos that I matted with the two orange cardstock colors.  Once the photos were on my page, I decided on a different title for my page. I switched from the cut file title to this wood veneer title and embellishments from Color Cast Designs.

For this layout, I wanted to have some journaling on my layout to document the timing between these two photos. I used my vintage typewriter to add my journaling to strips of the DCS Canvas Textured Ginger Snap cardstock. As the finishing touch, I added sequins from Spiegel Mom Scraps in Peach Fizz and Love You Latte.

I really hope that you enjoyed this layout. Thanks for joining me today!
