Stitching on Metallic Cardstock!

Ok, so we’ve heat embossed, dry embossed, foiled, and stenciled on Metallic cardstock. I was thinking what else could we do? STITCHING! Jessica here with a fun and pretty stitched birthday card featuring the Stardream Metallic cardstock.

I started with the Stardream Metallic Amethyst to use for the main focal image, which is a gift package bow. The die cuts have the holes for stitching, but also embossed lines to show where the threads go.

I used some silver embroidery floss, threaded my needle and start by going from the back to the front in the middle.

I don’t put a knot in the end of my piece of floss, I just tape the end onto the back side of the die cut.

Look how cute that it with all of the stitching!

Finally, I use another piece of tape to secure the end.

There are pieces in this set to help create dimension on the bow. I cut them out of the same Amethyst cardstock, and used a darker purple archival ink to make them darker.

I just went to direct to paper with this, but you could use a blending brush as well. You will need to give this a little bit of time to dry as ink takes longer on the metallic cardstocks to dry.

I finished this card off by adding the strip piece to the center of an A2 panel that I cut from the Stardream Metallic Aquamarine cardstock and embossed using a striped embossing folder. Once the background was embossed, I built the bow around that. I added a foiled sentiment and this beautiful stitched bow card is done!

I hope you enjoyed this project today and I would love to see all of your sensational stitchings!
