A Magical Birthday Card!
I’m flying in today to share a magical birthday card I made using several metallic cardstocks. Hi, Jessica here, and I hope you enjoy this magical owl card!

I’m using this adorable die set to create a fun owl for a magical birthday card. To start, I took out a few silicone cupcake liners. I keep these in my craft room to help organize things. They help me keep all the pieces together and not lose any!

Gather Supplies
Next, I sorted the dies into groups that would be using the same colors. Additionally, I find it helpful to make a list of the pieces and colors I will be using. These are the Stardream Metallic cardstocks I used for this project:
Flame (beak and feet)
Fairway (green in eyes)
Gold (scarf, details on book)
Punch (book and sentiment)
Kunzite (background)
Rose Quartz (cheeks)
Onyx (glasses and eyes)
Mars (scarf and seals on envelopes)
For the owl, I used the Neenah Cotton Letterpress cardstock in Fluorescent White. I love the texture and feel of this paper. And I knew I was going to ink blend on some of the owl pieces and this cardstock takes ink beautifully!

Cut the Pieces
After cutting all the pieces, I used a sponge dauber to add some light gray ink to the owls wings.

The little pieces on the owl’s belly can be inlaid with other colors. However, I chose to leave these in place and color them with a light gray alcohol marker for some interest.

OH my goodness! Isn’t she adorable?!

When I saw how cute the little envelope was, I decided to cut a bunch more to scatter around the background. So I inked the edges of the little envelopes, using a grip mat to help keep the small pieces in place.

Assemble the Card
Finally, I heat embossed an envelope background on the Kunzite cardstock and assembled my card. To sum up, this was so fun to make and the Stardream Metallic cardstocks were perfect to help bring it to life! So shimmery!

I’m so happy you stopped by today and I’d love to know what you think of this adorable card!
