Die Cut the Scene
I used Scottish Highland Green Textured Cardstock and die cut my forest scene using a deer scene die from my stash. For the deer, I cut it twice more from Natural Twine Kraft Cardstock and Vanilla Bean Brown Textured Cardstock. I trimmed the deer from each color and layered them on the the green panel. The layered trees instantly create depth and frame the focal point beautifully.

Ink the Background
Next, I worked on the background panel of Neenah Classic Crest Cardstock that was cut to 4″x5-1/2″. Using Stellar Inks in Clear Skies, Fore! and Buzzkill, I blended a soft sky and meadow scene. The mix of blues and greens gives a calm, natural feel.

To add a little extra interest and light, I splattered the panel with Imagine Crafts Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray in Gold, which creates subtle shimmer and texture—like sunlight filtering through the trees.

Assemble the Handmade Father’s Day Card
Layering the deer in front of the ink-blended background helps bring the whole scene to life.

Vanilla Bean Brown Textured Cardstock was used for the base layer and then I adhered the focal scene to the card base.

The sentiment was adhered onto a strip of the Natural Twine Kraft Cardstock. I trimmed it into a strip and layered it onto a strip of Vanilla Bean Brown Textured Cardstock. Popped it up with foam strips for dimension.

Complete the Project
To finish off the handmade Father’s Day card, I added a few tiny brown sequins.
