Monochromatic Birthday Card

Do you ever feel pressure to create a gorgeous birthday card for someone? Especially when they know you make cards? Hi I’m Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty) and I’m here to help take the pressure off – with a little help from CutCardStock of course! I’m demonstrating a monochromatic card today with metallic papers.

Simple but gorgeous cards start with Stardream Metallic papers. This is the best product in my crafting toolbox. Begin with Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz (or your favorite color). You will also need one A2 size card or cut your own using Classic Neenah Solar White cardstock.

Cut a 4″ by 5.25″ panel and run it through a die cut machine with your favorite embossing folder. This paper embosses beautifully! Additionally, cut a 3.25″ die cut frame in the same color and adhere it diagonally on top of the embossed panel.

Next, cut 2 flower die cuts from your metal dies or an electronic machine in the same Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz. Moreover, make this cut a 3D flower shape! If you don’t have one, a simple circle works well for this technique also.

Now, begin rolling your 3D flower. With this monochromatic card, you’ll notice that you need to add dimension and depth to spark interest. Take a tweezer tool and start rolling from the outside in. When you get it fully rolled, remove the tweezer. The flower will expand and unwind a bit.

Roll it back to the size you want, then apply glue to a few petals on the inside as well as the bottom platform. In addition, use a clamp to hold it in place if needed. Now apply these to the front of the card in the lower corner.

Another technique with monochromatic cards is to add some embellishments in strategic places on the card face. I’ve chosen some rhinestone ones. Place the rhinestones in the middle of your flowers as well using your tweezers.

Finally, add any additional sentiments as you wish. I’ve cut the word birthday in Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz and angled it slightly across the front. Now your card is complete!

This card has a classy feel and can easily be recreated with any other colors for events like weddings, Mother’s Day, etc. How would you use this technique?
