Snow in July

Good morning! Sharon here, although the temps are in the upper 90’s I’m going to be talking about snow today! Hopefully my card will cool you down a little.

I start my Christmas cards at the beginning of the year, making a few each month so come and follow along while I show you how to make this card. It’s a very simple card that is quick and easy to make.

I am starting with MirriSparkle Glitter Cardstock in Gold and Curious Translucent Cardstock in Silver.

You will also need an A7 cardbase, I am using Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock in 110lb.

Cut pieces of the gold and silver cardstock so they are both 4.75×6.75in. This way the silver will cover the gold when on your cardbase.

The die I am using is an edge die meaning it will cut the top half off and cut into the bottom half. Lay this about half way down the silver cardstock and run through your die cutter.

You may need to trim the sides of your cardstock to release the top part.

Transluscent cardstock can be difficult to adhere to your card without the adhesive showing. Using a glitter cardstock underneath it shows the glitter texture which also hides your glue.

Lining the bottom edge of both the gold and silver pieces together glue them in place. I am using a tape runner for this adding a stripe along the bottom edge and then on pieces of the top section to hold it in place.

Just to make sure you can’t see the adhesive I am adding a piece of red and gold ribbon. This also adds a little more festive color to my card.

Glue this in place along the bottom edge of the card topper.

To give the design a little dimension add foam tape to the back of the gold cardstock. This will lift it from your cardbase and because it is quarter of an inch smaller than the base it will be framed by the white of the base.

This die has snowflakes cut in to your design, you can use these as embellishments and ‘sprinkle’ them around the top section of the gold cardstock. I some iridescent gems also add further detail and help to anchor the die cut design down.

The gems will also reflect the red from the ribbon.

You can only see the glued section if you look close up!

I hope I am giving you inspiration and motivation to start your Christmas crafting early.
