A Bun in the Oven!

Hey everybody, Happy Tuesday! Did all the moms out there have a good Mother’s Day this past weekend? Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a super cute oven box card with a baby boy ‘bun in the oven’ theme! I used Sapphire, Vista and Silver cardstock for the main oven. I also used Lessebo Ivory, Pitch Black, Coffee Bean and Cherry Red cardstock. This is actually the second one of these oven box cards I’ve made so it went together pretty fast. I created the first one in a pink baby girl theme for a guest design project coming up in a couple of weeks. They are so fun!

Die Cut the Pieces

Die cut the oven top, inside front, and two decorative pieces from Lessebo Ivory. Using a stitched rectangle die, cut a panel for the back sentiment from Ivory also.

Next, die cut the oven side pieces, back, inside panels, oven handles and knob elements from Stardream Metallic Sapphire.

Similarly, die cut the oven doors and decorative pieces from Stardream Metallic Vista.

Stardream Metallic Silver will be used to die cut the ‘metal’ pieces such as the oven racks and knobs. Also the burner plates, utensils and racks, cookie sheet and decorative pieces.

Finally, cut the burners from Pitch Black, cookies from Coffee Bean and oven mitts from Cherry Red.

Assemble the Elements

Start by assembling the smaller elements. Adhere the cookies to the cookie sheet and the utensil racks to the oven sides.

Add the oven racks to the inside front panel, and the burner plates and burners to the oven top.

Assemble the oven front, adding the knobs, door handles, and acetate for the ‘glass’ in the top door.

Add Sentiments

Cut the sentiments into the inside front panel. Center them between the sections and add strips of Pitch Black cardstock behind the cuts.

Stamp a sentiment for the back panel in black ink.

Assemble the Oven

Adhere one of the side pieces to the oven front and back. Insert the tabs on all three inside panels into the slots on the side piece.

Now adhere the other side piece to the oven front. Insert the tabs on the other side of each inside panel into the slots on the side piece. Once the inside panels are in place, fold flat and adhere to the oven back.

Finally, adhere the rear tab on the oven top to the oven back. Tuck the front tab in like closing a box.

Complete Project

Using small pieces of foam squares, attach the cookie sheet and one oven mitt to the top. Also attach the utensils and remaining oven mitt to each side.

Adhere the sentiment panel to the back of the oven, and your project is complete.
