Daffodil Encouragement Card

What kinds of cards do you like to create? My favorite type of card to make is an encouragement card. It brings me joy when I know my card has made someone smile or brightened their day.

Today I am sharing another floral card…I really like making floral cards, too! I’m planning to give this card to a friend who is undergoing some difficult medical treatments and I’m hoping the sentiment gives her hope.

I chose to use the Darling Daffodils from Lawn Fawn because I think daffodils are such a cheery flower and perfect for an encouragement card. Daffodils also symbolize rebirth and new beginnings. Since they are one of the first flowers to bloom at the end of winter, they announce the beginning of Spring and signify the end of the cold, dark days.

Step One: Die Cutting

To begin, I die cut the flower petals out of Cougar card stock and blended Catherine Pooler Apricot ink to the centers. Cougar card stock is so smooth! The ink blended so easily.

I die cut the the “trumpet” portion of the daffodil and the center from Cut Card Stock Peach Cover and the stamen from a scrap of Apricot ink blended Cougar. The stems and leaves were die cut from Granny Smith card stock.

Step Two: Adhering

Next, I glued the flowers together using Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose liquid glue. I also adhered a blue panel cut from textured Indigo card stock to an A2 Cougar card base (these pre-cut and scored card bases are a real time saver)! I chose blue because I thought it would create good contrast with the peachy daffodils.

Step Three: Stamping

I also cut a 1″ x 5 1/4″ strip of Cougar and stamped the sentiment with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I used a sweet stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called Plant Sentiments.

Step Four: Finishing the card

Then, I arranged all of the flowers and leaves and adhered them to the blue panel. Next, I adhered the sentiment strip and lastly, I added foam to the side-facing daffodil and adhered it to the card.

I love how this card turned out. I hope my friend loves it, too.
