Circle Citrus Tags

In the area I live, the citrus trees are ready for picking! We have both a lemon and an orange tree, and I am blessed each year with plenty of fruit. There is something fresh about this time of year, and it always reminds me of spring. This is the inspiration for my project today – citrus tags made from a circle die cut!

I recently found I needed thank you tags, so I’m making several of these to keep on hand. They are the ZEST! HA! This project starts with a 3″ circle die cut. I’ve cut them in Lessebo Sunflower Yellow, Pop Tone Orange Fizz and Pop Tone Limeade.

Next, I had an old die cut that made a spinner wheel, so I am using this as the white inner parts of the fruit, and I’ve cut these in Pop Tone Sweet Tooth White. However, if you don’t have a die cut like this, consider nested circles and a few strips of white paper laid across your shape instead.

Before adhering the Pop Tone Sweet Tooth circle, I’m using a polka dot stencil and stenciling on a coordinating ink color to about a third of the circle. This is giving dimension to the project without overpowering the pretty papers. Then, go ahead and glue your white piece over it.

On the back, I’ve laid twine down and glued it, then cut another smaller circle in Pop Tone Sweet Tooth. Glue this over the top of the twine. This is where you can write a name or sentiment on the back.

For the flowers and leave, I’ve cut assorted small flower shapes with die cuts I have in my stash, all in the same Pop Tone Sweet Tooth White.

To give them dimension, I laid them on a piece of felt then took an embossing tool and pressed down in the middle in a circular motion, allowing the petals to pop forward. Glue these on to your project.

Leaves were done in assorted green tones: Bonzai Green, Granny Smith Apple Green and Lessebo Sweet Mint. All are different die cuts from my collection – I like to use what I have! Glue these on to your project.

My final steps are to cut die cut letters in Pop Tone Black Licorice and Pop Tone Sweet Tooth along with printing cute sayings on my printer in the same paper. Adhere these to the front, and add an enamel dot for the middle of your tags.

These tags are so perfect for the new Lessebo paper line that you can find on the CutCardStock website! Have you checked all the colors out yet? Make sure you do while the sale is still going on this month. The colors are “sub-LIME.” *wink*
