Valentine Card with a Shaker!

Hey everybody! Happy Tuesday – I hope you’re having a great week so far! Is it too cold to start thinking about Valentine’s Day?! Nah, I don’t think so! Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a tag-shaped Valentine card with a shaker! I used White, Cherry Red and Dawn Maroon cardstock from the new Lessebo line along with Pop Tone Cotton Candy and Silk Glitter Opulent Opal. I haven’t made a shaker card for a minute or three so I figured I’d do it up! Shakers are always fun to make and even more fun to receive!

Cut Card Base, Layers & Embellishing Strips

Using tag dies or a paper trimmer, cut a top-folding tag-shaped card base, a tag-shaped layering panel for the inside, and embellishing strips from Lessebo White cardstock.

Next, cut front and inside tag-shaped layering panels and embellishing strips from Lessebo Cherry Red cardstock.

Finally, cut several additional embellishing strips from Lessebo Dawn Maroon, Pop Tone Cotton Candy and Silk Glitter Opulent Opal cardstock.

Prepare Front & Inside Panels

Apply several embellishing strips in a horizontal fashion to the front panel and trim the edges. Die cut a heart shaped aperture for the shaker.

Similarly, apply a few embellishing strips to the inside panel and trim the edges.

Add Stamping

Stamp a sentiment on both the front and inside panels in black ink.

Create Shaker & Adhere Layers

Create the shaker element on the front panel by adhering the shaker pouch into the aperture. Add shaker bits and adhere the panel to the front of the card base, sealing the shaker.

Adhere the inside white panel to the red layer.

Complete Project

Add several pearls and a tiny bow to the card front.

And finally, adhere the panels to the inside of the card base which will complete the project.
