Paper Sunflower Accent

Did you know that the face of a sunflower follows the sun? What a cheery creation these bright, joyous flowers are! I love recreating sunflowers in paper crafting, and this accent flower is gorgeous for so many things.

Simple shapes are all you need, such as a circle and a heart. And, the great color choices from CutCardStock too!

Here is a demo of how this project comes together:

I’m using the Astrobright Solar Yellow paper for this project. It would be great to add some colors for dimension, like a Canvas Textured Adobo Orange. To add additional dimension, try sponging some colored inks on to the tips of the petals after assembling.

The base is a Vanilla Bean Brown paper. I didn’t add leaves to this project, but I think a Pop Tone Gumdrop Green leaf would do well as an accent too.

Depending on the size of dies you use, you could make a variety of sizes. I even would recommend cutting full size hearts from an 8.5” by 11” if you’d like to try your hand at a full size flower!

You’ll notice I used a wet glue for this project. It’s also possible to use a glue gun, and would adhere quickly without using clips. Make sure you have one with a low-temperature setting.

Twine is laid down in the base circle prior to adding the petals and can either be accents or used as a hanger or banner instead. This would also look good strung across twine like a banner as well.

Where will you add these flowers in your decorating? Feel free to pin this idea on Pinterest for the next time you are looking for a handmade bow or home decor accent. And let me know which of the CutCardStock colors you might choose for your project!

Wishing you sunny days ahead! Until next time!
