Curious Metallics with die-cut inlay
Our pets are such a beautiful part of our lives, what better way to honor them than with a handmade sympathy card. I’d love to share with you today how I made this Pet Sympathy card for friends who recently lost their furbaby.

The Curious Metallic cardstocks are a perfect base to use for this card, the metallic shimmer this cardstocks gives is so pretty and elegant. This cardstock takes ink beautifully and still retains the gorgeous, metallic, shimmer!

My finished card is 5″ x 7″, so I cut my card panel to be 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ from the Curious Metallic Virtual Pearl cardstock, with a black 1/16″ mat behind it. This Virtual Pearl color is gorgeous! I also used this color to cut out the rainbow using a die from Whimsy Stamps.

Next, I cut out some clouds using the same die set with the Curious Metallic Cryogen White cardstock – this cardstock has a gorgoeous, subtle sparkly shimmer to it. It is perfect for clouds!

For the rainbow, I wanted it shimmery but also bright and colorful, so I ink blended onto each piece of the rainbow using different inks. This cardstock takes ink beautifully and you can still see the gorgeous metallic shimmer through the colors.

Once all my rainbows pieces were colored, I adhered the Virtual Pearl card panel to the black mat, and then used foam adhesive to attach that onto the front of the 5×7 white card base. To make it easier to adhere the rainbow pieces to the base, I put some liquid glue down first, and then inlaid the die cut rainbow pieces. I love using this die cut inlay technique, the pieces fit perfectly into place and it looks so finished and perfect.

The next step was to die cut a dog silhouette to put on the rainbow. I used the Curious Metallic Night to die cut this dog silhouette from the Newton’s Nook Furr-ever Friends Die Set.
Before adhering my clouds and dog silhouette, I stamped “with Sympathy” from the Whimsy Stamps A Girl’s Best Friend stamp set using embossing ink and embossed with black embossing powder. Once my sentiment was embossed, I could proceed with adhering my clouds and dog silhoutte – I used foam adhesive to adhere these to my card, and then the card is done!
