Die Cut Autumn Cards
Autumn lovers “fall” into 2 categories…Harvest fans, and Halloween fans! And if you’re a lover of one (or both) celebrations this time of year, you might like this project using the Basis card sets on sale at CutCardStock this month. It’s a great option when you need a quick card or want to make several styles in one sitting.

My base card is the Basis White card sets with envelopes, and I’ve chosen 2 different background panels. The first is the Wild Blueberry Navy paper and the next is the Pop Tone Orange Fizz paper. I’m going to be doing a bit of ink blending, but I don’t want to take a lot of time so often I start with a colored card stock as a base paper.

On the Wild Blueberry I’ve used the Distress Oxide inks in yellow, purple and blue and blended several circles in areas where I will highlight my die cuts later. On the Pop Tone Orange Fizz, I’ve shaded the top layers around the edges and working in to the middle, using red and yellow Distress Oxide inks to mimic a sunset.

Next, with both panels I’ve used a flick brush and splattered a mix of acrylic paint with a couple drops of water, one in white and the other in brown. This will give my Halloween card panel a star galaxy look, and my Orange Fizz panel an autumn air feel. One tip I’ve learned the hard way? Make sure you have a covering when you “flick” the paint, ha ha! I’ve put my panels inside a plastic bag for coverage.

As the panels dry, I’ve cut die cut shapes for both cards but in different colors. I’m using a birch tree cut, a fence cut and either a witch or leaves and a flower, depending on the card.
I was tempted to do a Christmas card – it would be beautiful in a red and white color scheme! The Fall card I’ve used a bit of chalk for highlights too.

The Halloween die cut pieces are cut in the Stardream Metallic Onyx for a shimmering and spooky look.
The Fall cuts are in Basis White, Pop Tone Gumdrop Green, Adobo Orange and Astrobright Solar Yellow. I also added a sunflower with more Astrobright Solar Yellow and Vanilla Bean Brown for the middle. Trees are in Sand Castle Tan.

Adhere the panels to the front of the cards, then your die cuts. Given that my Halloween card is dark, I’m using pop dots in a black color to attach the witch.

Then – find your favorite Halloween or Fall sayings! I’ve stamped these both on small pieces of Basis White card stock, dusting the edges of the Autumn panel in more ink.

In a matter of minutes, you have a set of cards ready to go this season! I love having CutCardStock card sets around for a quick project – and these Basis sets with envelopes make life so easy.
Ink blending and die cuts make card making easy and fast too. Which type of card will you make? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
