Looking for an easy and inexpensive way to start decorating for autumn? This paper hoop piece comes together quickly with items you probably already have in your stash and gorgeous cardstocks from CutCardStock.
Start by turning a piece of patterned paper over to its backside and tracing around the outside of the inner piece of an embroidery hoop with a pencil. Here I’m using a 7″ embroidery hoop and a piece of plaid 12″ x 12″ patterned paper from my stash.
Insert the patterned paper into the hoop…the snipped border helps the paper conform to the shape more easily, but it may “puff up” a bit and that’s ok (more dimension)! Add a gold foiled sentiment to the paper with adhesive foil transfers. (You can add the sentiment before you put it into the hoop, but I wanted to see my exact placement so just pressed it on with an acrylic block supporting the paper underneath.)
Ink the edges and veins (using the die as a stencil) of each leaf with a slightly darker color of ink than the cardstock (orange ink on yellow cardstock, red ink on orange cardstock, and maroon ink on red cardstock).
Ink the edges of the orange rolled flower die-cuts with red ink and then curl the petals with a ball stylus or your fingers. I curled the first 6-7 petals upward and the last 12-13 petals downward and rolled both die-cuts into one flower to create a full and more realistic-looking rose.
Die-cut a few leafy flourishes from Gold Bright Foil Cardstock.
Arrange your embellishments before adhering them permanently to the base with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. I placed the gold flourishes on the very bottom and then layered two large leaves on top, followed by a bunch of the smaller leaves, and then the rose on the very top.
Finish your piece off a bit by adding some ribbon around outer edge of the hoop if desired and tie a bow with a loop at the top to allow for easy hanging.
I hope you enjoyed this easy hoop art décor piece and thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase the supplies showcased today and remember that orange, gold, and brown cardstocks are on sale this month!
