Hi again! Annie here with a quick and easy home decor project made with gorgeous Classic Linen cardstock and some basic tools. I was looking for a simple way to add more color to my son’s nursery, and thought the beautiful texture of linen cardstock would be perfect for a simple art piece.
Start by inking an entire sheet of Classic Linen cardstock with several bright colors of ink, overlapping them in some areas to create interesting blends. I choose to use a rainbow theme, but any three colors or more would make a beautiful piece.
Once dry, punch out many, many shapes from the colored cardstock. You can use dies for this step too, but punches are much faster. Try to use three sizes of the same shape to add more interest. Here I’ve chosen balloons for my framed art, but birds, butterflies, and even basic geometric shapes would work just as well (symmetrical shapes work best).
Score each balloon down the center and fold it in half.
If you have an electronic cutting machine, die-cut a simple phrase out of Stardream Metallic Onyx cardstock. Otherwise, type out the phrase in a word-processing program and print it directly on Classic Linen cardstock (this cardstock takes printing beautifully).
Next, arrange the punched shapes on your “canvas” to plan your design. I chose a simple curved design with the balloons progressing in rainbow order, but simple rows of shapes would work as well (specimen art). Glue the shapes to your canvas with Tombow liquid glue.
Hang your new art piece and brighten up any room! I hope you enjoyed this simple framed punch art project and thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that Classic Crest and Linen cardstocks are on sale this month!
