A Dancing Ghost Halloween Card with a Fun Interactive Surprise
Hello, crafty friends! Halloween is such a fun time of year to create playful cards filled with cute characters and unexpected details. I’m Carrianne, and today I’m sharing a sweet Halloween ghost card created for the CutCardStock blog featuring an adorable dancing ghost, bright Halloween colors, and a fun interactive element. This card was made especially for my 10-month-old grandson, so I wanted it to feel cheerful, colorful, and full of personality.
The Spellbinders Dancing Ghost die set made the perfect focal point for this design. By combining colorful CutCardStock papers, a bold sunburst background, and layered die cuts, this Halloween card came together with a fun surprise that makes the ghost appear to dance right on the card front.

Supplies Used
CutCardStock
- Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock
- DCS Pink Tutu Cardstock
- Lessebo Flame Orange Cardstock
- Pop Tone Grape Jelly Cardstock
- Classic Crest Epic Black Cardstock
Other Supplies
- Spellbinders Dancing Ghost Die Set
- Spellbinders Boo Dance Party Sentiments
- Poppy Stamps Tiny Sentiments Banners
- Concord & 9th Sunburst Card Front Die
- Foam adhesive

Step 1: Create the Sunburst Background
I started by cutting the Concord & 9th Sunburst Card Front Die from a panel of DCS Pink Tutu Cardstock. This cover die creates a fun burst pattern while keeping the background clean and modern.
The pink background adds a playful twist to a traditional Halloween color palette and creates the perfect backdrop for the white dancing ghost.

Step 2: Die Cut and Assemble the Ghost Pieces
Next, I die cut all of the pieces from the Spellbinders Dancing Ghost Die Set.
The ghost body was cut from Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. For a fun Halloween pop of color, I created the striped legs using Lessebo Flame Orange and Pop Tone Grape Jelly Cardstock.
To add detail to the ghost’s face, I used Classic Crest Epic Black Cardstock behind the eye openings. Adding the black cardstock behind the openings gives the ghost a bold expression and helps the details stand out.

Step 3: Add Candy to the Pumpkin Treat Bag
The Dancing Ghost Die Set includes adorable Halloween accessories, including a pumpkin treat bag and candy pieces.
I die cut the pumpkin from Lessebo Flame Orange Cardstock and created the candy pieces using a combination of orange, purple, and white cardstock. For one candy piece, I added pink shading to a white base to coordinate with the Pink Tutu background.
The candies were tucked into the opening at the top of the pumpkin bag. To keep them securely in place, I added adhesive to the back of the pumpkin.

Step 4: Assemble the Card Panel
Once the background and die-cut pieces were complete, I adhered the Pink Tutu sunburst panel to a Classic Crest Solar White card base.
The white card base keeps the design bright and allows the colorful Halloween details to stand out.

Step 5: Create the Interactive Dancing Ghost
The fun part of this Halloween ghost card is the interactive dimension!
I placed the ghost legs onto the card panel first. The legs include a circle opening, which I used to my advantage by placing a round foam adhesive dot inside the opening to help hold the ghost in place while allowing dimension.
After positioning the ghost body, I added additional foam adhesive to balance and level the ghost. This creates a raised effect and gives the dancing ghost a fun, dimensional appearance.

Step 6: Add the Sentiment and Finishing Touches
To finish the card, I added the “Hey Little Boo” sentiment from the Spellbinders Boo Dance Party Sentiments.
The short greeting perfectly matches the playful personality of the dancing ghost and keeps the focus on the cute Halloween design.

Final Thoughts
I love how this Halloween ghost card combines bright colors, simple layers, and a fun interactive element. The unexpected pink background gives the traditional Halloween palette a cheerful twist, while the orange and purple details bring everything together.
The Dancing Ghost was the perfect little character for this design, and I hope this card brings a smile to my grandson’s face when he receives it.
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope this project inspires you to create your own playful Halloween cards using colorful cardstock, die cuts, and a little imagination.
Happy crafting!
