Taco Truck Birthday!

Hola, mi amigas y amigos! Toni here with you today sharing a super fun taco truck birthday card. Do you happen to live in an area with food trucks or stands? Fortunately, I have a number of such options in my area but tacos are certainly the most numerous.

Honestly, I think working up the truck was my favorite part. I wasn’t necesssarily a fan of all of the microscopic pieces, however. Instead, I enjoyed imagining how I would decorate an actual food truck to be very eye-catching and fun.

Unsurprisingly, I have a bunch of brightly colored cardstocks in my CutCardStock stash and went to fiesta town:

• Pop Tone Orange Fizz cardstock: Truck Body
• DCS Discount Granny Smith and Pop Tone Sour Apple cardstocks: Truck Accent Panels
• Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock: Tires
• Bright Foil Silver cardstock: Hubcaps, Bumpers, Side Mirror
• Pop Tone Banana Split cardstock: Headlight
• Curious Translucent Clear cardstock: Windshield
• Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink & Pop Tone Red Hot cardstocks: Awning
• Cougar White cardstock: Counter
• Pop Tone Lemon Drop cardstock: Taco Shells, Bottle Labels, Blinker
• Lessebo Coffee Bean cardstock: Meat
• Pop Tone Sno Cone cardstock: Serving Platter & Bottle
• DCS Sand Castle Tan cardstock: Corks
• Pop Tone Red Hot cardstock: Salsa Bottles, Tomatoes, Brake Lights

Earlier when I said some of the pieces were microscopic, I was so not joking. Just look at those tiny bits and bobs! Unsurprisingly, I ended up cutting extras of the itty bitty elements just in case and still lost some along the way.

I had considered using some of the tiny diecuts as decorations on the truck itself but came to my senses. Rather, I used Doodlebug Design enamel stickers to add a cute and playful dimension. Ranger Glossy Accents would have served well for a similar effect on cardstock diecuts. Surely you agree the stickers are easier though!

The background

For this card, I was envisioning fireworks or maybe pennants in the background. Ultimately, I decided to use gold hot foil along with a starburst press plate for faux festive fireworks.

As I had done with the “Tacos” sign on top of the truck, I embossed the “taco Tuesday” sentiment–this time on a Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock road. In addition, I opted to stamp “let’s fiesta!” on the DCS Discount Dolphin Gray cardstock truck aperture backing.
