Winter Memorydex Card

Hello friends, Melissa here. I have a really cute and quick project for you today. I don’t know if you’re new to Memorydex card making as I am, or if you’re ol’ pro. If you’re new, come learn with me and if you’re an ol’ pro, well, I hope you enjoy this idea! First off, let’s gather our supplies:

Materials

Die Cuts

Let’s begin! First of all, gather all of your die cut pieces. Cut out the Memorydex base from Patriot Blue and the layering layer from Hydrangea Purple. I set aside the actual base layer and began working on everything else.

Stenciling

I picked this really fun snowblizzard stencil to create my background. The card stock is weight is absolutely perfect for this technique. I lathered up the layer with the texture paste through the stencil. It’s like icing a cake! Here are the results:

Isn’t that cool? Oh, I just love how this turned out. For an extra step, add glitter to give the whole piece some sparkle. I don’t do that because I’m allergic to glitter. But for those who love that look, it would look so pretty!

Adding the Focal

Now we can work on our focal image.

Here you can see I stamped a face on the snowman body and started to color him up. And then remembered I needed to take pictures! LOL I get to craftin’ and I forget I’m showin’, too! I also assemble his little hat and scarf.

Before I adhered him to the purple layer, I stamped a sentiment that’s cute and cheeky and I’m sure describes how a lot of people feel about now. I live in FL so I don’t have a lot to complain about. A few cold days here and there. I also added a mittened hand that is holding up his sign.

Next, adhere everything together and place on the base layer to complete! Now let me count the reasons to love Memorydexing!

  • Quick little pieces of art that you can just enjoy looking at over and over again.
  • Quick projects! These don’t take a lot of time, unless you’re really going for a Botticelli.
  • You can use these to maybe journal a thought or a memory on the day you made it! Maybe something wonderful happened and that’s the reason you made the piece to begin with. Write it down.
  • You can use as an old-fashioned Rolodex! Wouldn’t it be adorable to use create a Memorydex that reminds you of a certain person, add their address and DOB on the back and create a “birthday calendar” in this fashion?

The possibilities are endless. If you made one of these memorydex cards, what would you do with it? I’d love to know!

Wishing you a very Crafty New Year!
