Football Themed Tailgate Banner
Are you getting ready for the big game this month? Consider saving money by making your own football tailgate banner using CutCardStock paper items. Hi, I’m Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty) and I have a quick to assemble project for you so you can do just that.

First, begin with the DCS Bonzai Green paper and the Cougar White cardstock. Cut the green into 6 pennant shaped flag panels, using either a die cut or a paper trimmer. Then, cut yard line numbers with an electric machine or numbered die cut and several strips at a .25″ width.

Next, adhere one long strip of the Cougar White cardstock down the center of the DCS Bonzai Green pennant. Trim off excess. Add a yardline number to each side of the strip. I’m using 50 because this will be a 50th birthday party banner!

Trim a few shorter lines to add as smaller line markers on either side of the strip, and glue them to the flag. Then punch holes in the top 2 corners of your pennant.

Now, select a football shaped cut file from your electronic library or die cut stash, and cut a couple of these in Vanilla Bean Brown. I’ve cut these at about 3″ in height. Add a shadow of Cougar White to the back of this image and trim around the edges. Alternatively, you can use the drop shadow function on your cutting machine.

It’s time to choose an accent color! If you are rooting for a particular team, go for a coordinating color to the team’s theme or in my case, use Stardream Metallic Gold to emphasize the golden 50th birthday! I’ve cut one set of numbers to add to the pennant and the letters of the birthday boy’s name.

Set the number 50 off to the right slightly for a drop shadow effect on the pennant. Then, add the letters to the front of the footballs you just cut and add them to a Lessebo Pitch Black circle as their own separate panel.

Glue these in place and string twine through each hole. A tip: try stringing the twine through the front and out the back so you don’t cover up your design on the front!

Now you’re ready to decorate! Making your own banners is great because you can personalize it just the way you want – and CutCardStock has hundreds of options. Want a bonus idea? Here’s a couple other ideas I made for this football themed party: a card and a table centerpiece! Go team!
