Books Are My Happy Place

When you have a colorful card, sometimes the thing that really makes it shine is black! Linh here. On this card, I wanted to feature a stack of rainbow colored books. But for the rainbow to really pop, I didn’t want color anywhere else, so I stuck to a black & white “pattern paper” (that I stamped myself) and a black mat with generous border as the frame.

Let’s Make This Card

Step 1. Die Cut Your Pieces

Step 2. Assemble the Stack of Books

I used the DCS Sand Castle as the base/foundation layer. The only thing that will still be visible is the pages of the books that are at an angle. I ordered the colors in rainbow order for the fun of it.

Step 3. Start Layering

You can start with a black cardbase but if you do, then you may want to put a white panel inside. I prefer to start with a standard white card base (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ folded) and then my first layer is Pop Tone Black Licorice cut to that same size. The next layer could be pattern paper, but I like making my own pattern paper and Cougar White is really smooth and lovely to stamp on.

Step 4. Adhere your books with some low profile foam for dimension

Step 5. White Heat Emboss the Sentiment onto PopTone Black Licorice and adhere.
