Let’s decorate for Fall
Hello everyone. Melissa here with a lovely decoration for Fall. I live in Florida where we don’t have Fall. It’s this time of year that makes me miss West Virginia. The colors, the crispness in the air, the smell of apple butter simmering away in bit pots outside in the small town I worked in. I don’t get that here, so I have to make it! My sister and I learned how to make apple butter in the crockpot which fills the house with the scent of apples and cinnamon and warmth. I can make the air crispy by leaving on the AC (I don’t though) and the colors, I have my favorite craft suppliers to help me with that.
Let’s gather some supplies:
- Lessebo Coffee Bean
- DCS Orange Fizz
- Neenah Natural White cardstock
- DCS Green Curry
- DCS Yellow Jacket
- Decorative paper from Brutus Monroe
- Dies from Tonic Studios
- Nuvo Drops
I made this shadow box to decorate my mom’s room a little. She loves stuff like this. You’ll have to forgive me, this isn’t a step by step tutorial, there would be so many pictures you’d be here too long to read. But you’ll get the idea.
I did use dies to make this shadow box, but I’m sure there are ways to make one without specialty dies. But if you have something similar, dust it off and let’s get crafting.

The first thing I did was make a pumpkin using oval dies. You can use either 3 panels or 5. My photo below I used 3 but later I changed my mind and used 5.
Die cut the ovals and then emboss them for texture. Use some ink to bring out the details.

Next, we’re going to make the shadow box frame and start to decorate it.

I used some gorgeous paper from Brutus Monroe. It wasn’t quite long enough so I added another strip which really you could leave it because in the end, it really isn’t noticeable.

I die cut out a bunch of flowers and added a bit of detail using inks. I also cut out some greenery to fill in. Then using dimension foam, and stacks of scrap card stock I arranged the bouquet of flowers into the pumpkin vase. Added a little fencing for just a bit more detail.

Once I was satisfied with the inside of the shadow box, I enclosed by adding the top of the frame.

I also die cut some sprigs and added Nuvo drops. Once these were dry, which didn’t take long in this FL heat I added them to the greenery on the frame. Below is a close up the finished front.

I hope this inspires you to create something pretty, Fall-ish and dimensional. Have a great day!
