Make corner bookmarks with envelopes
Book clubs, book blinging and blind dates with books. These are all types of parties you can host if you are a bibliophile – yes, a book lover! Hi, it’s Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty) with you today and I am hosting one of these parties this month. I’m so excited! I am here to show you some easy party favors you can make if you decide to throw a book party too. No special tools needed. The secret is using fabulous CutCardStock envelopes, and of course, papers!

Start with a pack of the Cougar Natural A2 Envelopes. Cut the envelope down the middle at the 3″ mark with a paper trimmer. If you’d prefer to get 2 bookmarks out of each envelope, I suggest a 2.75″ cut instead. I chose a slightly larger cut so my stamps would fit on the final product.

Then trim the corner off again at 3″, trimming off the tabbed side of the envelope. Make sure the closed end is preserved when you cut – this is the pocket corner of the bookmark.

Next, trim at the diagonal and discard the non-pocket side of the cut.

Trim as many of these as you need for the bookmarks you’re making. For this project, I made 6 of them.

Flip the corner over so the seam side is on the back. Stamp any images or sentiments on the smooth side of the corner. Since I want the pocket to go over the right side of the book, I’m stamping sentiments in the upper right hand corner.

Now you’ll need a base to glue it on. I chose DCS Textured Ginger Snap Brown. I’ve cut 6 of these at 3″ square. Flip the textured side to the back and glue the envelope pocket to the upper righthand corner of the Ginger Snap Brown piece.

It’s time to cut some contrasting color squares for the inside of the pocket. I’ve chosen Lessebo Hunter Green and cut 6 squares at 2.75″ on each side. Run these through your favorite embossing folder for a textured pattern.

Glue these green squares on the inside of the pocket, leaving a 1/8″ trim.

Next up is the fun part – the decorations! I’ve chosen to cut small sunflowers in Lessebo Sunset Orange and Lessebo Pitch Black. I’m also using Pop Tone Gumdrop Green for leaves.

Dust the edges of these with ink and glue them together. Then attach them to the envelope corner with some wet glue. In addition, you can add small twine or gem elements to the flowers for an eye-catching design.

Finally your bookmarks are ready to use or give away! Tuck these into gifts for a special person or use them as party favors, like me. Where would you use this idea for yourself?
