Use Your Halloween Patterned Paper Anytime of the Year
Do you have seasonal patterned paper pads that are stored away until the season arrives? We all do and I am encouraging you to use them now. Hello – I am Karen Hasheck. Recently I was thinking ahead to Halloween cards. My favorite paper to use for Halloween cards is the Halloween 6×6 Stock Pad from American Crafts at CutCardStock.

Patterned paper is fun to use when die cutting. Bones don’t have to be skeleton bones for Halloween right? The bones patterned paper in the Halloween 6×6 pad reminded me of dogs, so I die cut the floral puppy and some bones. Then I made this card:

Create Lagoon Cardbase

Another of my favorite CutCArdStock cardstocks is the Stardream Metallic Lagoon Cardstock. It is perfect for cardbases and for layering.
To make this card, cut a cardbase 5 ¾ x 9 inches. Next score the 9 inch side at 4 ½ inches to create a card slightly larger than an A2 card.
Add Texture With Stitched Background Die

Stitched background dies add texture and interest to backgrounds. There are paws and hearts on this stitched background created with more of the Lagoon Metallic Cardstock.
Complete the Card and Don’t Forget the Inside

After layering the stitched Lagoon Metallic background to the same color cardbase, simply attach the dog and bones. Any of them can be raised with pop dots or strips for more dimension. The bones reminded me of birthday treats. This inside is sure to make the birthday girl or boy laugh.

I hope you will pull out those seasonal paper pads and think outside the box next time you need some patterned paper. Then join me in sending out some handmade joy into our world.
Here is a list of the pet dies used on this card:
