DIY Hello Summer Banner – A Bright & Cheery Decor Piece
Hey Krafty friends! It’s Tiffani from A Krafting Alley, and today I’ve got a fun and festive summer project for you. If you loved the Hello Summer Z-Fold Card from my last blog post, you’re going to adore this coordinating DIY Hello Summer Banner!

This banner is perfect for summer parties, backyard BBQs, poolside fun, or even just brightening up your space. You can hang it indoors, outdoors, or even use it as a cute photo backdrop for your summer get-togethers. I’ll walk you through how to assemble it step-by-step.
Supplies You’ll Need:
To make this DIY banner, you’ll need the Hello Summer SVG file. You can get it from my Etsy shop and an electronic cutting machine.
Here are the cardstocks I used from CutCardStock.com:
- Letters – Pop Tone 65 lb Black Licorice
- Beach Ball –
- Flip Flops –
- PopTone 65 lb Orange Fizz (base)
- Basis Aqua (straps and bottom)
- PopTone 65 lb Orange Fizz (base)
- Sun –
- Pop Tone 65 lb Tangy Orange
- Pop Tone 65 lb Lemon Drop
- Pop Tone 65 lb Orange Fizz
- Pop Tone 65 lb Tangy Orange
You’ll also need:
- Foam tape and/or foam squares for dimension
- Liquid glue
Twine to string your banner – I used a yellow and white one
Let’s Make the Banner!
Step 1: Cut All Your Pieces
Download the SVG from my Etsy shop, upload it to your cutting machine software, and cut all your pieces using the cardstock colors listed—or switch it up to suit your summer color palette!
Step 2: Assemble the Beach Balls
Layer and glue the different colored segments onto the white base using liquid glue. Want extra dimension? Use foam tape on the back of the colored pieces for a pop!
Step 3: Assemble the Flip Flops
Attach the orange base to the blue base using foam squares, then glue the blue straps on top of the orange section.
Step 4: Assemble the Suns
- Take the Tangy Orange sun base and adhere the smaller Orange Fizz sun layer on top using foam tape.
- Add the Lemon Drop circle on top with foam tape for a three-dimensional look.
- Once your suns are built, glue the black letters onto the center of each sun.
Note: Just be sure the holes for stringing are at the top and the letters are centered between the holes so the letters hang and read correctly!

Step 5: String It All Together
Now it’s time to put your banner together! Here’s the layout:
For “SUMMER”:
Start with a flip-flop, then string on your letters in reverse order (so they read correctly when hung):
R – E – M – M – U – S, then end with another flip-flop.
For “HELLO”:
Start with a beach ball, then string the letters:
O – L – L – E – H, and finish with another beach ball.
Be sure to leave enough extra twine on each side so you can easily hang your banner!
Want to combine it into one long banner? Simply string all the elements in order: Beach Ball – HELLO – Beach Ball – Flip Flop – SUMMER – Flip Flop. One banner, double the cheer!
This Hello Summer Banner is bright, cheery, and easy to make. It pairs perfectly with the Hello Summer card, making it great for summer gifting or party decor.
I hope you give this project a try—and if you do, I’d love to see it! Tag me on Instagram or leave a comment below to share your finished banner.

Happy crafting,
Tiffani
