Birthday Hat Card
Hey everybody, Happy Thursday – I hope you’re having a great week! Do you ever think ‘outside the box’ to use ordinary stand-alone dies to make a fun and creative card? I have a friend who does this regularly and I challenged myself to do the same. You are going to love what I came up with! Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a super cute birthday hat card using only round and oval stitched dies. I used Lessebo Brick Orange, Silk Glitter Opulent Opal, and Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. So let’s get started!

Cut Card Base & Layers
Cut a stitched circle from Lessebo Brick Orange using the largest die in your set. For comparison purposes, the die I used is 5-1/2″.
Next, using the next smaller size die in your set, cut a stitched circle from your choice of patterned paper.
Using the same die in the second step above, cut a stitched circle from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White.
Similarly, cut a stitched oval from Lessebo Brick Orange and one more (the same size) from patterned paper.

Create Bow Embellishment
Die cut a bow from Silk Glitter Opulent Opal and a matching one from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White. I wasn’t sure which bow I wanted to use so I cut several to choose from.

Adhere the white cardstock bow to the underside of the glitter one for stability. Add an iridescent gemstone to the center of each.

Adhere Layers
Score the largest orange cardstock circle in half and burnish with a bone folder.
Afterwards, cut the second largest patterned paper circle in half and adhere one half to the folded circle.
Adhere the orange cardstock oval to the underside of the patterned paper oval leaving a small border. Apply glue to the bottom half and adhere it to the folded circle.

In similar fashion, cut the 80# Solar White circle in half and adhere it to the inside of the folded circle. You’ll need to trim a sliver off the top edge for it to fit nicely.

Adhere Bow to Birthday Hat Card
Now, it’s time to make a decision about which bow to use. Lay each one on the card to see which one you like best, and glue it down.

Stamp Sentiments
Stamp the front sentiment across the top of the hat in orange ink.

Additionally, stamp a sentiment on the inside panel in the same orange ink.

Complete Birthday Hat Card
Add several iridescent gemstones to the brim of the hat and color them all with an orange alcohol marker. The beauty of using clear gemstones is having the ability to color them any color you want!

Finally, glue a narrow patterned paper strip across the top of the inside panel, and your card is complete.

Summing up, these are the other products I used:
CARDSTOCK/PAPER: Doodlebug Design Floral-Graph Rainbow Petite Prints 6×6 paper pad
STAMPS: My Favorite Stamps Sassy Prints Birthday Greetings 3 stamp set
INK: Catherine Pooler Orange Peel ink; Copic Ciao YR16 alcohol marker
DIES/PUNCHES: Love From Lizi Stitched Circle Nested Cutting Dies, Love From Lizi Stitched Oval Nested Cutting Dies, Scrapbook.com Bow Toppers Dies
ACCESSORIES: Fiskars 12″ ProCision Rotary Bypass Paper Trimmer, Bearly Art precision craft glue, My Sweet Petunia Precision Glue Press, MISTI stamp tool, Big Shot, iridescent gemstones (colored with Copic marker)
