Friendship Fun Fold

Hey everybody, happy weekend! I hope you’re having a good one. Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a side panel pillar card in a timeless black and white color combo. This friendship fun fold card has just a pop of color which really lends to the elegance. I used Savoy Cotton, Beetle Black, Wedding Cake White, and Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock. I have to admit that once again I started out with a completely different card design in my head. Before I knew it, the card had morphed into this black and white beauty. It amazes me how something so simple can pack such a punch!

Die Cut the Background

I die cut the focal panel from Savoy Cotton cardstock intending to spritz it with some shimmer mist. I sat there thinking how pretty it would be to leave it white and back it on black cardstock. So my entire card design shifted some major gears. Ended up cutting a solid rectangle from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White along with an additional focal panel from Beetle Black.

Next, I colored the three dragonflies with alcohol markers, gave them some shimmer with a Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen and Glossy Accents, and set them aside.

Assemble the Background for the Friendship Fun Fold

At this point, I cut an additional focal panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White. I layered this beneath the first one for a little dimension and then adhered them to the solid rectangle. I used the black negative space pieces and put them in like puzzle pieces. The addition of the butterflies completed the background piece.

Cut the Card Base & Layers

The card base and front panel were cut from Beetle Black along with layering panels from Wedding Cake White.

Adhere the Layers

Feeling like the layering panels needed a little something, I dry embossed them using a Script embossing folder. Next, I adhered the white panels to the card base and the background piece to the front panel.

Assembly of this card is a breeze with just the two pieces. Adhere the focal panel to the card base… that’s it!

Stamp the Sentiments

Finally, I stamped the front sentiment on the smooth side of a scrap of Beetle Black and heat embossed it. Afterwards I cut it with a stitched oval die at an angle for a little interest.

For the back panel, I added a dry embossed panel of Beetle Black and stamped a sentiment in black ink.

Now, the only thing left to do was add a few iridescent gemstones and adhere the inside panel.

Summing up, these are the other products I used:
