Tape Measure Gift Card Holder
Looking for a creative DIY gift card holder that’s perfect for Father’s Day or a birthday? This fun measuring tape–shaped design will impress the handy man in your life—and it’s made entirely with the amazing CutCardStock papers. Hi, I’m Maureen, and I’m excited to show you how to craft this masculine card idea that proves great things really do come in small (and cleverly created) packages!

Start by cutting a Lessebo Pitch Black sheet of paper to 3.5″ by 7″. Score the paper along the long side. Use a circle punch or shaped die to trim one corner. Additionally, if you’re using a die cut, slip just the corner under the cutting edge and stop before running the paper fully through the machine.

Glue the edges of the pocket down on both sides of the fold, leaving an open edge to slip a gift card in. Then, use a corner punch to round the top 2 edges.

Cut a 2.5″ circle from Lessebo Granite Gray and a 2.25″ circle from Lessebo Sunflower Yellow. Next, cut the yellow circle in half, then die cut letters or numbers from Lessebo Pitch Black. Afterwards, attach them to the half circle.

Adhere the yellow half circle to the inside of the gray circle, then trim another strip of paper to lay over the edge of the half circle at the bottom. I attached this to the front of the gift card pocket with foam adhesive for dimension. Furthermore, I’ve also added some decorative orange die cut stars to the circle front.

Now let’s create the measuring tape. During a shopping trip, I found the most clever looking gift card that looked like a ruler. I simply added an element to the end to make it look like the ruler edge. Next, I’ve used an embossing folder to simulate the look of metal. I’ve chosen a gray similar to Lessebo Cement Gray (mine was no longer in stock). Trim a piece off using a tag topper or bookmark die and adhere it to the end of the gift card with double sided tape. Then, slide the gift card into the pocket.

For an added touch of realism, you can add a metal grommet at the end with a hole-punching tool too! Finally your gift card is ready to give away.

And just like that, this project is complete! This project really “rules” don’t you think? Any handy man in your life will appreciate the extra effort you took to give a simple gift card. I hope you decide to try this project – we welcome you to pin this to your Pinterest boards for future use!
