Canister Bunny Project
My kids are older now, but if they were asked, they would admit that egg hunting is still something they love to do. Of course, the baskets and snacks have changed over the years. One thing they like now are more salty snacks – like chips! I created this project with them in mind. Hi everyone, it’s Maureen today! I think you’ll love how this project comes together quickly using the CutCardStock white papers.

I started with a 6″ high canister of snacks. You can find cheese puffs, crackers and even potato chips in your local stores in this size around the holidays. I measured the approximate width and decided I could get 2 cuts out of an 8.5″ by 11″ paper, so I cut a piece of Classic Solar White lengthwise down the middle at 4.25″.

To adhere the paper, I used a strong adhesive tape all across the back of the Classic Solar White paper strip. Wrap this around your canister. Use extra adhesive at the end to hold it firmly in place.

Before the face was applied, I also added some freckles with a polka dot stamp and black ink.

For ears, feet and eyes I can always count on my die cut shapes! I cut two ovals in Classic Solar White and a smaller set in Granny Smith Apple Green for the ears. Use your judgment about sizing. Then, glue the green ovals in the middle of the white ones. Burnish a fold line at the tips of these ovals and fold them up.

I then cut a circle to cover the top of the canister in the same white card stock.

Next, adhere the circle at the top and tuck the ears under the circle. Make sure your glue is fully dry.

Next, it was time to create feet. I chose a gingham pattern paper to match the Granny Smith Apple Green paper and cut two round oval shapes. As a result, this added a pop of color. I applied a smaller Classic Solar White oval on the top and two small hearts for toes. Apply this to the bottom of the canister.

At last, it was time for the eyes. I know these are intimidating! Cut two Lessebo Pitch Black circles, and two smaller Classic Solar White dots to create big bold eyeballs. Add a small highlight with a gel pen, if desired and attach to the can.

During application I cut two white pom poms as cheeks and applied them to the face. Following this, I glued a green pom pom for a nose. Let this sit to dry. Two strips of folded white card stock complete the face as whiskers.

Your canister cutie is ready to hide in your house or yard! He also would complete a gift basket or be cute as a table setting. The possibilities are endless!
Now it’s your turn – head on over to the CutCardStock website and stock up on those fabulous whites in all shades and weights. You never know when you might need to create a last minute Easter gift this spring.
