Do you make a lot of birthday cards? I always try to have a variety of cards ready to send out. Today, we are going to create a fun and trendy birthday card. Mary here and my card features a stylish to-go cup created with the perfect card stock from CutCardStock. Follow along and learn how to craft this card step-by-step.

Materials Needed:

~Cougar white smooth card stock for the card base

~Colored card stock: I used Lessebo Amazon card stock, Granny Smith card stock, and Stardream Metallic Silver

~Ink blending tool and ink to stamp the sentiment and ink blend the background. I used Concord and 9th Rainforest ink.

~Concord and 9th H2Hello stamp and die set

~Concord and 9th Sunburst Card Front die

~Liquid glue

~Die cutting machine

Prepare the Card Base:

Start by creating your card base. Cut a piece of Cougar white smooth 100# card stock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. Then, score the long side at 4 1/4″ and fold. This will make a standard A2 card.

Create the Background:

First, cut a piece of 80# Cougar card stock to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Next, put the card stock and sunburst die together and run it through the die cutting machine. Using an ink blending tool, lightly blend some ink, starting in the center and moving outward, to add a subtle glow to highlight the cup.

Die cut and Assemble the Cup:

  1. Die cut all of the pieces from the card stock.
  2. Stamp the sentiment onto the green die cut piece. The ink I used looks very similar in color to the main bottle piece.
  3. Carefully adhere the pieces together to form the top section of the cup. Once these pieces are dry, you will carefully fold the edges that are scored on the green die cut piece. Use a bone folder to get a nice crease. Glue one side of the cup to the cup base and wait about a minute to glue the other side because this is held with a small tab. This will give your cup some dimension and make it look really cute. Finally, add the straw and the heart die cut.

Assemble the Card:

  1. Adhere the background panel to the card base.
  2. The cup is adhered in the center of the panel.
  3. Make sure everything is adhered securely and add any additional embellishments.

There you have it! In this tutorial, I explained how to create a cheerful birthday card that is perfect for a pre-teen or teenage girl or a hip mom. This design is simple, yet eye-catching, which makes it an excellent choice for any birthday celebration. Happy Crafting!
