The Best Bits Scrapbook Layout
I can’t believe that my year on the CutCardStock Design Team is coming to an end. It has been such an honor to represent this amazing company and to share my love for cardstock and creativity with all of you. My very first layout last year featured a rainbow sequin shaker cut file, so it seemed only fitting to finish my time on this team with another vibrant, rainbow-colored sequin shaker layout.
Getting Started

To begin, I selected this beautiful cut file from Peartree Cutfiles. What drew me to this particular design was the 12 polaroid frames, which I knew would be perfect for turning into individual sequin shakers. These frames provided the perfect opportunity to add both movement and color to my layout. Since I wanted to create a bold, colorful rainbow effect, my next step was selecting 12 stunning cardstock shades from CutCardStock that would make the entire project pop.

To achieve the perfect gradient, I chose a mix of rich, vibrant cardstock colors:
- DCS Black cardstock– a classic, grounding base
- DCS Canvas Textured Wedding Cake White cardstock – a crisp, bright contrast
- DCS Plum Purple cardstock – deep and regal
- Pop Tone Grapesicle cardstock – a soft, whimsical purple
- DCS Textured Indigo Blue cardstock – a striking, deep blue
- Lessebo Salt Water Blue cardstock – fresh and serene
- DCS Canvas Textured Carribean Blue cardstock – bright and tropical
- DCS Canvas Textured Bonsai Green cardstock – a natural, deep green
- DCS Canvas Textured Mantis Green cardstock – a lively and vibrant green
- DCS Canvas Textured Yellow Jacket cardstock – a bold, sunshine yellow
- Pop Tone Tangy Orange cardstock – a warm, citrusy hue
- DCS Canvas Textured Wild Salmon cardstock – a cheerful coral shade
- Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink cardstock – fun and playful
- DCS Red Pepper cardstock – a striking, fiery red
Each of these colors was carefully chosen to create a seamless and eye-catching rainbow effect that would make every detail of the layout stand out.
Backing the Cut File

First, I backed the letters of the title with 11 of the cardstock colors, keeping them in the same rainbow order as the frames. This helped create a cohesive and visually engaging design. I carefully trimmed each piece to fit within the intricate details of the cut file, ensuring clean and precise lines.
Next, I added a square of acetate to each polaroid frame opening to create the shaker windows. This transparent layer would hold the sequins in place while allowing their movement to be fully visible. To build the depth needed for the shaker pockets, I used ¼” foam tape around each frame, making sure to seal all edges so none of the sequins would escape.
Once the pockets were formed, I carefully selected a variety of sequin mixes that matched each cardstock color. These vibrant sequins added movement, sparkle, and fun texture to my layout. After filling the pockets with their corresponding sequin colors, I secured them by adhering the matching cardstock pieces over each frame to close the shakers.

The result was a dazzling array of colorful shakers that not only added dimension but also brought the entire design to life!
Assembling the Layout

With my cut file fully backed and my sequin pockets complete, I adhered it onto a fresh sheet of Wedding Cake White cardstock. The bright white background helped the vibrant rainbow colors stand out even more.
To personalize the layout even more, I printed out 12 of my favorite photos, each measuring 1.5” squares. These tiny snapshots represented some of the best moments from our beach vacation last summer, making them a perfect fit for this colorful project.
To make the photos stand out, I double-matted each one using Wedding Cake White and Black cardstock. This simple but effective technique framed the photos beautifully and added an extra layer of dimension, ensuring they didn’t get lost among the colorful elements of the layout.
As finishing touches, I added a piece of white and black patterned paper behind the title area for contrast and visual interest. This small addition helped anchor the design and provided a nice break between all the vibrant colors.
To complete the layout, I scattered black labels and black star embellishments around the page, creating balance and tying everything together. The pops of black added depth and contrast, enhancing the overall composition of the page.
