Reindeer Cookie and Cocoa Holder
Tis’ the season for treats, isn’t it? I am a BIG fan of cookies, and my family bakes several kinds each year to give away. I thought I’d step up my gifting game by making a cookie holder this year – I haven’t made one before, and this would be perfect for all those girlfriend gifts I do each year. Even better, this reindeer holder is made exclusively with CutCardStock papers and simple oval die cuts!

Cutting Out Your Pieces
To start, cut a strip of Ginger Snap Brown at 4.25″ by 11″, then score it at 5.25″. Cut another few pieces of the Ginger Snap Brown in the following sizes: 4″ by 4.25″ (one of these) and 4″ by 6.25″ (two of these).

Score the smaller piece at .5″ on each of the long sides. Add a score line down the middle at 2″. Score the larger pieces at .5″ and 1.0″ on only three sides.

Next, take the two pocket pieces and cut off the corner squares where the fold lines appear. Fold these lines up to form a pocket. Adhere the corners together with glue. I use a small clothespin to hold it in place while it dries. Set the pockets aside.

The reindeer face is created using several oval die cuts I have in my stash. You can also cut these with an electronic machine. It takes some time to decide what sizes you want for the eyes, nose and ears. I’ve included this photo for reference. Sometimes, it takes cutting a few pieces to decide what look you want.

I cut the larger nose and ears in Natural Twine Kraft and cut the smaller nose in Lessebo Cherry Red. Of course, because it’s Rudolph, don’t ya know? I cut another ear piece in Ginger Snap Brown and cut the eyes in Lessebo Pitch Black.

Create the reindeer ear by cutting an oval and cutting it again from the opposite side. This gives it an oblong shape. See the photo for reference!

Finally, punch 2 small holes at the top fold of the long Ginger Snap Brown piece. Tie a knot in some ribbon underneath, then thread the ribbon up and back to make a handle. Add a knot on the other side and fold like a card.
Assembly
It’s time to assemble our holder! Adhere the pocket panels to the front and back of the long folded piece at the bottom. Give this time to dry.

Next, fold the smaller Ginger Snap Brown piece like an accordion. Glue the small .5″ edges to the back insides of your folded piece. This will resemble an easel and hold your project together.

If desired, brush the base project with brown ink and add flecks of white or black paint for dimension.

Glue your Natural Twine Kraft oval piece to the front pocket and trim the overlap at the bottom. Add your Lessebo Cherry Red nose, Lessebo Pitch Black eyes and your ears to the front with glue.
I also added small ovals in Vanilla Bean Brown for antlers too! Finally, add some highlights and spots with a white gel pen.

You are ready to add your sweet treats!! These pockets are big enough for a full-size cookie and a packet of hot cocoa too. If your holder gets heavy, I recommend reinforcing the handle underneath with a couple eyelets before you tie the ribbon. This sweet treat is ready for gifting!
