Pencil box for back to school treats

It’s hard to believe that back-to-school season is here again. I imagine you’re stocking up on supplies if you are a family with school-age kids. Hi, I’m Maureen, and for this post, I have a great addition to your supply list… hand sanitizer!

Ha ha – I like this idea of a carrier for a treat or for hand sanitizer and this pencil box is a great way to gift a teacher or someone special a treat or a bottle of small hand sanitizer for back to school use.

It’s easy to create and perfect for all the teachers you know! And, of course it uses the fabulous CutCardStock papers.

Create the Pencil

Start with the Lessebo Sunflower Yellow paper and trim off an 8″ x 2″ strip. Score it at 3-3/4” and 4-3/4”. Fold and glue at the top to form a triangle.

Next, trim strips of paper for the eraser tip in Discount Wild Salmon at 8” x 1-1/4” and Stardream Metallic Silver at 8” x 1/4”. Score these strips at 2”, 3” and again at 5” and 6”. Glue the strip of Stardream Metallic Silver to the edge of the coral paper.

Once dry, the strip gets folded around the base of the yellow triangle and glued in place.

For the top, take a 4” x 2” strip of Pop Tone Sweet Tooth White and fold it in half. Trim the edge with a scallop scissors. Glue this to the top of the yellow triangle.

Trim the corners of the white piece at an angle to form the point of the pencil. Punch a hole at the point and thread black ribbon through it to form a loop.

Now decorate the box with a die cut of the #1 and sentiment of your choice. I used Pop Tone Sweet Tooth White, and Pop Tone Black Licorice paper for this. I also took some ink and a sponge and inked the edges.

Finally, add some stitch lines to your box and fill it with a treat or a hand sanitizer gift. The loop at the end of the box is great for hanging on a backpack or gift bag!

I hope you enjoyed this project and it inspires you to get ready for back to school. If you liked it, feel free to pin it to Pinterest for later use. Also, check out the sales on our orange, brown and gold papers this month! Thanks for stopping by!
