Book Club Bookmarks

Everyone enjoys a summer book now and again, right? Hi everyone, it’s Maureen with you today. I have a special project that’s perfect for hosting those book club parties. Or even just a personal project to help you keep track of all those great novels you’re reading. The best part is how sturdy these bookmarks are because they are made with the sturdy CutCardStock papers!

To get started, you’ll cut several strips of Lessebo Amazon Teal at 2″ by 6″ in length. Make as many as you need, or make extra for gifts! Next, take a tag topper punch and punch the tops. There are several on the market to choose from, but if you don’t have one, you can use one edge of a scalloped die cut also and then punch a circle at the top.

Select your favorite CutCardStock white paper to use in a printer. I’ve chosen the Cougar White cardstock because it works really well with my inkjet printer.

Next, use your printer to print out several pocket sleeves that say “Books I’ve Read” or some other saying that you prefer, and add several lines below it. Your recipients can write on those lines later on. Consider printing extra in case you have a group of avid readers!

Cut these white strips into smaller strips than your pocket – approximately 1.25″ in width. Set these aside to slip in the pockets later.

Select a patterned paper and cut into 2″ by 6″ strips. Slice it at a diagonal about halfway up the strip, then follow suit with the remaining strips. Glue it on three sides, leaving the top open like a pocket.

Next, cut out a scripted name in Cougar White with either die cut letters or an electric die cut machine. You’ll cut these at approximately 5″ in length. Glue these on to the opposite side of the Lessebo Amazon Teal bookmark.

To attach smaller tassels, I added a small hair rubberband to the end and slipped it through the whole at the end of the bookmark. And your project is complete!

Don’t forget to check out the variety of Lessebo colors, especially in the jewel tones, at the CutCardStock site. And thanks for joining me today – now get reading!
