Valentine’s Step Card
Valentine’s Day is getting close! And I wanted to share a fun card I made for my niece. She loves purple and pink and all things cute and adorable!

I started with a die that cuts the card base out for a step card – I love fun and unique card shapes and she is going to love getting this in the mail. I cut the base of the card from the Stardream Metallic Azalea cardstock – I love this cardstock so much! It is shimmery and beautiful but also a great weight to use for card bases. I cut out the stitched panels from Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz.

I cut and colored a few cute Valentine’s images to go with the card. I used the Cougar Super Smooth 80# white cardstock for this. It is a great carstock for alcohol marker coloring! One tip I have for adding a furry texture to cute little critters is to just take the tip of the alcohol maker in a lighter color than you used for your image and make little dots all over the image. The lighter color will push the darker color away in all those areas and give a great textured look!

Once i had everything cut and colored, I laid it out to see all the pieces and then started assembling.

One thing to keep in mind when doing cards like this is to keep flattening it out to make sure it will still fit in the envelope as you are adhering things. I wanted to make sure those cute balloons weren’t too tall to fit!

I used one of the stitched panel pieces to cut out a small rectangle from the Azalea cardstock for the sentiment. I am going to heat emboss with white embossing powder. The sentiment that I had was all on one line and was too long so I carefully cut it apart so that I could lay it out how I wanted – I can always put it back together and stamp the way it was intended if I need to.

Look at the cute fuzzy texture on our little bear!
