Making Christmas Memories!

Hello and Happy Thursday! Misty (@Mommyofkidz) here today to share a new layout with you documenting one of my favorite Holiday traditions. I don’t know about you all, but there ae so many things that I love about the holiday season! The sights, the sounds, the smells, everything just seems more exciting when the holidays are approaching. I love the holidays so much that sometimes I want to start early and go far into January with all of my decorations. I know…a bit extreme, but to be honest, it simply makes me happy.
With Halloween over and out of the way, that means it’s time to switch gears and get festive!! Therefore, I put away all the scary stuff and pulled out all my favorites!

It’s Beginning…

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at my scrapbooking desk! I wanted to get myself into the holiday spirit, and what better way to do that than to reminisce about holidays past. Since I had not yet scrapbooked most of last Christmas, I pulled out those photos and set to work. First, I decided what kind of background I wanted to use to document my photos. The buffalo check patterns have been very popular lately, so I decided to make my own! Using these three cardstocks, I did just that! By cutting them all into ONE inch strips, I was able to weave them together to create my own unique background!

Adding the Festive Bits

Once I had completed the background, it was time to add the festive bits to the page. Of course, since it was going to be a wreath, I pulled out my greens! With FOUR different CutCardStock Green Choices in hand, I set to work. The wreath needed depth, so I cut it 5 times with 5 different size settings, varying only a tiny bit. Once all of the cuts were complete, I layered them together and mounted them onto my page. I also pulled out some of my favorite embellishments from the new Simple Stories Vintage Christmas line, as well as some ribbon and other bits.

Finishing Touches

With the wreath assembled and the photos mounted, it was time to add the finishing touches. I didn’t add any mixed media, as I thought it would detract from the simple elegance of the page. I simply added a few floral touches, some cardstock stickers, and a few pearls… and it was done.
Documenting your memories doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. It just has to be done. If not for your own enjoyment, do it for your family. This layout documents the traditional cup of hot cocoa that we enjoy while decorating the Christmas tree. I LOVE THIS! I don’t want my kids to ever forget these moments, and this is a tradition that I hope is passed down for generations.

I hope I have inspired you in some way today. With the holidays approaching, don’t forget to rejoice in the blessings that you have. Savor the moments with your family and friends, and remember the love you feel when you are with them. Maybe this year, take it one step further, and document all of those moments! The CutCardStock Store is the perfect place to stock up on your album making supplies. What are the Holiday Traditions that you love? What traditions do you want to pass down to the generations? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THEM!
