Seascape With Inked Background

Hey everybody! Happy Thursday! Are you still creating summer-themed cards or have you moved on to Fall, Halloween and/or Christmas? I’ll readily admit that I’m not a seasonal crafter… I make whatever pops into my head and it doesn’t matter what season it is! I’m still somewhat in summer mode (even though I’m not a fan of the heat) and have a seascape card to share today. I used my favorite Neenah Classic Crest Solar White for the card base and inside layering panel. Strathmore Cotton Water Color cardstock is a must for any type of inked background. And finally, I used Pop Tone Blue Raspberry on the inside to bring in the color of inks I used on the front for the coral.

Ink Background Panel

Ink a 5×7 panel of Strathmore Cotton Water Color cardstock with light and medium blue distress inks and a blending brush. Leave the center of the panel just a tad lighter. End by spritzing a tiny bit of homemade shimmer mist over the panel. When dry, trim the panel.

Cut Card Base & Layers

Cut a standard A2 size side-folding card base and inside layering panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. Similarly, cut an inside layering panel and embellishing strip from Pop Tone Blue Raspberry. Grab a leftover strip of the inked panel to use as an inside embellishing strip.

Stamp & Fussy Cut Focal Images

Using a layering stamp set, stamp the angelfish in black, yellow, dark blue and red inks. Stamp the coral in black and light, medium and dark teal inks. Fussy cut all four pieces and run a black marker around the edges for a finished look.

Adhere Layers

Adhere the coral to the background panel, leaving the tops loose for a dimensional look. Next, adhere the angelfish. Assemble the inside panel by adhering the embellishing strips to the white panel and then layer onto the blue raspberry panel.

Stamp Bubbles & Sentiments

Stamp bubbles in black ink on front and inside panels and color in with white pearl marker. Similarly, stamp the front and inside sentiments.

Complete Project

To complete the project, adhere the front and inside panels to the card base.
