Wavy Thank You

How often do you send thank you cards? Sharon here – I love sending cards just because so will send thank you’s often. My card today is one that I love to make because it is quick and easy to batch make.

This card starts its life as a Classic Crest A2 Folded Card, Classic Crest Neenah Solar White 80lb Cardstock and Stardream Metallic Lagoon. Throw in a some dies and it all comes together!

I start the design cutting my cardstock to size. As my cardbase is A2 and am going to totally cover this, my first piece is Lagoon Cardstock cut to 4.25×5.5in

You can always use the Lagoon as your card base but I like to be frugal with pretty card!

Next is the white layer, I trim this so it leaves a 2/8in border as I like fine edges to my mats.

The final layer is going to be my ‘topper’ layer which I will die cut in to. again taking this down by 2/8th of an inch.

Now for the die cutting. the wavy thank you it cut using Crafter’s Companion Edgeable Thank You Die. This lays across the smaller Lagoon piece of card. I want enough room at the top to added my flower die cuts so I stick the die in place with some tape allowing it to overlap on each side so it cuts completely across the card. The tape stops it moving in the plates.

The Thank you is cut as a negative so leaves the word as holes in the card and the flowers are positive.

I use some of the waste left when I cut my cards sizes to die cut the flowers. A Diamond Press Floral Die Set is great for this, cutting one complete flower and leaf.

I did darken the edges of the petals and leaf with ink blending before adhering it all together.

Building the card is easy. My folded cardbase has a mat of the remaining A2 piece of Lagoon Cardstock. I glue my topper on to the white Neenah card with plenty of wet glue as the pressure from the die cutter does warp the card and doing it this way I can place it under something heavy while the glue dries. This leaves it nice and flat.

I fix the 2 pieces together, once again using wet glue. The flower adds some interest with tone on tone. I also have decided to add more detail with some color coordinating gems.

The gems have a sparkle to them that catch the light.

Like I said in the start this is a great card for batch making. You can cut all the pieces and then just have to glue them all together.

I hope this has given you some inspiration if you need thank you cards.
