A Candy A Day Keeps the Gnomes Away!

Do you celebrate Halloween? I personally love working with Halloween images but I much prefer cute images rather than spooky. I especially love the gnomes I used in this card because they are equal parts fall and Halloween and they are definitely cute!

These gnomes are from a new Halloween Gnome Polkadoodles release. I am a big Copic coloring fan but sometimes I really appreciate being able to create ephemera with digital pieces. These gnomes were printed on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock and then I cut them out. No coloring required! I always buy the uncolored versions of digital stamps too because I do like to color them by hand when I want to.

I used a stencil to apply Wilted Lilac Oxide ink to Basis Gold cardstock. I love this technique because it allows the bright gold color of the cardstock come through but also allows a dark purple edge creating a perfect fall/Halloween ink spot background for the gnomes.

I only used the two with the larger yellow centers because I found the gnomes were large enough to cover the yellow area unless I used the purple ink a bit more sparingly. Once done, I cut these out using my Brother Scan and Cut. You can fussy cut these also. Hand cutting would result in a wider yellow border than the machine cut did but I think the thin yellow border is a nice contrast. Below are the stenciled pieces and the gnomes cut out.

Next I cut stitched slimline mats out of Royal Sundance Fiber Kraft and Vanilla Bean Brown cardstocks. I ran the Brown mat through a 3D embossing folder to get a dimensional geometric pattern.

I glued the mats together and laid out the stenciled pieces and a sentiment that I printed from the Polkadoodles collection on Pop-Tone Orange Fizz. All I had to do was cut it out with a stitched die. Easy peasy!

I glued this to a slimline card base made from Royal Sundance Fiber Craft cardstock. Now for the fun part! I added the gnomes, attached the sentiment and added a sprinkling of orange and purple pearls and a touch of orange Stickles. Presto! Super cute gnomes steal the show!
