Snow Fun Layout!

Snow days! There was nothing my kids liked better in the winter than a suprise day off from school because of a heavy snow fall.  This picture of my youngest 2 boys was taken back when they still had snow days and didn’t just make them remote learning days.

I wanted to create a scrapbook page layout so to begin I picked out coordinating patterned paper from my paper stash – DoodleBug Design, October Afternoon, and Recollections.  Then I matched those with CutCardStock Curious Metallic Lime, CutCardStock Discount Cardstock Wedding Cake, and CutCardStock Discount CardStock Patriot Blue.

I knew I wanted the picture to be layerd on top of the CutCardStock Discount CardStock Patriot Blue and I planned to use a frame die to cut out a layer to put behind the photo. Before I put it through my die cut machine I decided it needed some ink snowflakes so I grabbed my stencil and pigment ink and give it some snowflakes. I have to use a light tack tape to secure the stencil because I can’t seem to keep the stencil from moving around.

Once the snowflakes were stamped I got out my tub of embossing powder and I gave the stamped image a quick sprinkle than used my heat gun to set the embossing powder. Once it was dry I ran it through my diecutting machine using the frame die to make the mat layer. There was no problem stamping on the Discount CardStock Patriot Blue nor did I have any problems applying the embossing powder at all.

I new I was going to want plenty of snowy embellishments so I got some of my snowflake dies, letter dies, and word dies out and using CutCardStock Curious Metallic Lime, CutCardStock Discount Cardstock Wedding Cake, and CutCardStock Discount CardStock Patriot Blue I randomly die cut out some accents for the page. All dies used are from Crafter’s Companion and the CutCardStock was a breeze to diecut.

The layout came together easily and I do like the end result. I think that using the CutCardStock Curious Metallic Lime really helped to make the photo pop by pulling out the green jacket in the picture. Sweet and simple layouts are my favorite to make.

Be certain to visit the CutCardStock store and grab those specials while you can. Make next year, 2022, a big crafty year and stock up on your card stock now.

Wishing you all a very Healthy and Happy Holidays! Cheers!
