Shimelle Inspired Layout

I did something a little different! I found an old sketch from the fabulous Shimelle, paired it with Paige Evan, and I ran with it.

I used Opulent Opal Glitter Cardstock, Sparkling Aqua Glitter Cardstock, and Cougar White Cardstock. I kept this layout quick, easy, and it came together fairly quickly. I loved the simplicity of it. I did, as always, added my flare to it, but kept to the main design of the sketch.

There’s not a lot to pick and choose from on this sketch. Keeping it simple was fairy easy. I used the Lagoon Glitter cardstock as the baking for the main design element. I felt this paired well with the patterned paper form Bloom Street. This paper was fun, colorful, and it broke up the floral and butterflies I knew I wanted to use. Using the Opulent Opal to back my photo with.
I don’t like to journal. I never got into it, or liked the way it looked. So when I see spaces to journal on sketch I try to use something else. In this case it looks blocked. I pulled out some matching washi tape, moved it up and created the block concept beside my photo.

As always, I pulled out the embellishments, too many of them. I love phrase and word stickers. That’s where it began.

I used the sunshine & happiness as my title, added the phrase stickers. I needed dimension so I popped up a strip of the patterned paper with some foam tape, and added the rest with the florals.
After adding the flowers and butterflies, I needed to break up the white. So, I pulled out 3 matching Catheine Pooler Inks, and added some splatters. I used Bellini, Melon Ice, and Fiesta Blue.
Normally I would do the mixed media first, and I highly recommend that you do. However, I do like how this turned out. I wasn’t sure at first if it would, I was expecting to have to redo this somehow. I was happy I didn’t have too!
Now the finishing touches.

Sequins from SpiegelMom Scaps, Nuvo drops, and ScrappinHappy Studio Flair! My favorite embellishments to use by far!
This was fun, easy, and quick! The glitter cardstock was perfect! I love glitter and sparkle! With my nieces as the subject, its so appropriate. They are so bright and sparkly themselves!
