Eye-Catching Zentangle Cards
These eye-catching Zentangle® cards are ideal when you want to send a personal touch to your friends and loved ones. These Zentangle® patterns are basic and simple to draw even if you have no experience tangling.

All the details to create these easy eye-catching Zentangle® cards are in this short cardmaking video tutorial. Watch here or in HD on YouTube. While you’re there I’d love it if you like, subscribe, and share with friends!
Crescent Moon Zentangle® Pattern
Crescent Moon is a beginner Zentangle® pattern that is typically taught in introductory Zentangle® classes. It encompasses several Zentangle® principals. Such as repeat pen strokes, aura, and inking in ares for contrast.

Savoy 100% Cotton cardstock is a dream to tangle on. It has a bit of texture and give that makes inking and shading a decadent experience. Here I’ve used Brilliant White, but Bright White is also a great color.
To add a pop of color and finish off the edges of the square Zentangle® drawing, die-cut a piece of Pop-Tone Razzleberry cardstock with the largest Altenew Fine Frames Square Die.

Don’t toss the center of the die-cut, use it as a template to adhere the fine frame to the card. See video.
Shading with a regular pencil and tortillon add deep dimension to this almost one-layer card. A Hello sentiment from Altenew Rosie Posy Stamp Set finished off the card.
Pokeroot Zentangle® Pattern & Liquid Marble Stencil
Pokeroot is one of my all-time favorite Zentangle® patterns. Organic patterns spark my interest more than geometric patterns.
Although I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) I don’t tangle often and I’m so out of practice. Despite being out of practice, there are certain tangle patterns you just never forget. Pokeroot is one of them!

This was the first time I ink blended on Savoy 100% Cotton paper and I will definitely do it again. It creates a soft airbrushed appearance and it was super easy to blend Altenew Orange Cream Crisp Dye Ink with an Altenew Ink Blending Brush.
I chose Altenew Liquid Marble Stencil specifically because it has wide-open spaces leaving enough room to tangle pokeroot in the white space.

After tangling pokeroot, I watercolored them with Altenew Artists’ Watercolor 24 Pan Set. Savoy 100% Cotton paper is not a watercolor paper per se, but it does handle a bit of water well without pilling or buckling.
Shade underneath the bottom edge of the marble pattern. This creates an incredible dimension by elevating the stencil pattern and processing the pokeroot. A small stamped sentiment from Altenew Flower Vine Stamp Set finished off this card.
That’s a wrap guys! I hope you enjoyed these simple, but eye-catching cards and will give them a try. The patterns are so simple and easy to recreate.
