Spring has Sprung! … ??

I don’t know about you, but with this crazy Winter going on, I can’t tell if its Winter or Spring. So, I’m going with some pictures taken early days of winter, with the beautiful colors of Spring! I’m going to highlight this adorable little hedgehog cut file, that I backed, but also turned into a shaker pocket!

I started with a sheet of Solar White cardstock and cut this cutie out on my Silhouette. It cut perfectly! I started with the non-shaker section and used a pretty sheet of patterned paper and my favorite liquid adhesive.

After all that glue was dry, and the excess paper was trimmed off, I added the transparency for the shaker, the same way as I did the paper.

Once he was completely dry and all the excess transparency sheet was trimmed off, I used one of my favorite adhesives… Darice Foam Strips. These are amazing for making shakers. They are 3 inches long, so you don’t have cut them or waste as much, they are the perfect thickness for those sequins to slide effortlessly around in.

You want to go around the entire area of where you want your shaker pocket to be, as close to the edge of the paper as you can without going over the paper, so you don’t see the foam tape. If you did, there are ways to hide it, so don’t fret. If you look close enough, I bet you can see the foam tape. It happens! I wanted that white paper to pop out, so I did not cover up any mistakes. Once that’s completed, if you haven’t pulled off all the paper from the tape, do it now and pour in those sequins or glitter, anything goes!

I used the gorgeous Violette Curious Metallic Cardstock to back my shaker pocket with. Press hard, make sure that sticks good before you flip him and trim off the excess paper.

I used a couple different colors to finish off the backing of this guy. I used Basis Green, Basis Light Yellow, and Pink Quartz Metallic. Use your favorite liquid adhesive, fit the cardstock in, and cut off any excess from around him. He is ready for some additional tweaking, or a page!

I added just a little bit of dimensional paints, also known as Nuvo Drops, Liquid Pearls, Stickles, whatever your favorite is. I use all the things, however on this guy I didn’t want to take away from that beautiful metallic paper, so I stuck with just the Nuvo Drops, and just on the flowers.

To finish off this layout, I used the same Violette Metallic Paper, Pink Quartz Metallic paper, and the Basis Light Yellow paper, to back all my photos with, and get some layers in there, alternating the colors differently on each photo.

I did a lot of fussy cutting on those flowers! They match the paper on the hedgehog, totally worth it! Added some additional sequins, and some Nuvo Drops along with my title.

I hope you enjoyed this mix of Winter and Spring. Perhaps they’ll get it right soon and we can get out there and enjoy the spring with lots of pretty pictures to capture and document! So many different and unique ways to add shimmer and sparkle to a page with these stunning Curious Metallics!
