Creating Cards for the Guys
Why does it seem so difficult to create cards for the guys? I hear it often. Guessing it’s because we use so many floral stamps. Florals are one my favorites!! Although, I think selecting the right colors help make a card masculine instead of feminine. I tend to reach for blues and greens for the guys. As I started to create this card, I searched my stash for stamps and found this triangle set. I hadn’t put it to use yet. So it seemed like a good one for this project.
For the card base, I used Basis Card Stock in Blue. It was the perfect background color. For stamping the triangles, I used Distress Oxide Inks. I’ve always used them for ink blending but they are fantastic for stamping too. Especially on the Classic Crest 80lb.Card Stock which I used for the card panel. The ink stamped super smooth and solid. I did use the Misti Stamp Tool in case I needed to re-stamp anything. I overlapped the ink colors a little for added interest.
The word Happy is die-cut from the Blue Basis Card Stock. It’s the same card stock as the base. I added shine with several layers of clear embossing powder. I used some Post-it Tape as a handle on the die-cut so I didn’t smear any of the embossing powder while heating it.
Before putting the stamping supplies away, I just had to decorate the envelope. I used a White Basis Envelope. Using the same Distress Oxide Inks, I stamped across the front of the bottom of the envelope.
Great inspiration! Any geometric shape would work but this looks wonderful.
