Gratitude

I have so many things to be grateful for, I wanted a pocket or purse size journal to record them in during November. I created a small (4.25″ x 5.5″) Gratitude Journal for recording what I am grateful for each day. It could be a simple saying or thought, a photograph with a short caption of why I took it or why I included it or a note about someone I am grateful for and why they are important to me.
I started with Natural Royal Sundance Fiber Cardstock cut down to create cover that are 4.25″ x 5.5″. Then I used White Royal Sundance Paper for the daily pages cut down  to 4.25″ 5.5″.  I did not want the bulk of using cardstock for all the pages.
I scored them at .5″ on one long side. This is to make it easier to open the book flat.

I stamped the date on each page and the year on the cover. It’s best to do this before binding just in case you make a mistake. Don’t ask me how I know this.

I created a template to punch the holes for the  binding. I spaced them out .25″ in from the edges and .5″ apart. I held a few pages together with binder clips to punch the holes in the pages.
To bind the pages together, I started with the twine coming up through the center holes (or as close as you can.) I laced the twine down and up in holes and then back up to the center. I tied the twine in a knot and then a bow. I added a dot of glue on the bow to make sure it didn’t come untied.
I used my favorite colors of 65# Pop Tones Tangy Orange, Jellybean Green, and Hot Fudge and 80# Basis Gold paper to create leaves to decorate the cover of the Journal.

I used the small leaves to create a paper wreath and attached them with Micro Glue Dots. I will add more leaves to the inside pages as I begin to write. I also added a twine bow to the wreath. I might even create one for December.
