Happy Father’s Day Brush Calligraphy Envelope Art
Most envelope art has to work within the parameters of including address and postage, but as I’m pretty sure I will be hand-delivering it, I may as well have fun with the envelope as well as the card. (You can see the tutorial for that here.)
I started with a plain white envelope that would fit my A2 size card. I then cut down a piece of Basis light brown 80 lb cover stock so that there was a slim white border when applied to the front of the envelope.

I have this wood grain texture stamp in my stash that I bought online a long time ago from Ali Express and used that with some Versamark to create a watermark effect on the paper.
I then took out my blending tool and some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo so I could blend a darker color brown around the outside, leaving a halo of lighter brown in the middle. The wood grain texture remains. I also activated the ink and affected the watermark with some water droplets.
Once the panel was good and dry, I went in with a Pentel Pocket Brush and wrote “Happy Father’s Day” in brush script caps. I also added some illustration and white highlights with a Sakura gel pen for character.
I liked the panel just how it was, accompanied with the card, and stuck it onto the white envelope with my ATG gun to be sure it wouldn’t peel away.
And there you have a super quick and easy way to spruce up a basic white envelope for a handmade, hand-delivered card for Father’s Day.
