OH BOY!

OH BOY! Baby Shower

I am proud to announce the approaching arrival of my first grand-baby!  My daughter, Mary, has many friends and family who were eager to help supply a lot of the necessities required for first-time parents.  So a shower was given to celebrate this new life in the making!
Being a printer and calligrapher, I offered to create the invitations and address the envelopes.  During the planning of the event, I also offered to decorate for the soiree’.
We didn’t have a theme for the shower so we used the colors from the baby’s nursery:  navy, grey, and pale aqua.

Because I only do in-house letterpress, I decided to outsource digital printing for the invitations.  I selected  Classic Crest 130lb Card Stock, available at CutCardStock.com
and hand calligraphed in a casual lettering style using white ink.

Of course I had to letterpress SOMETHING, so I ordered a few letterpress plates with the baby’s name (Camden Matthew) and initials to be used on various items.
I letterpressed store-bought treat bags for the candy bar, and mini treat bags for after dinner mints.  We pre-stuffed the small bags, folded and secured with a tiny diaper pin for the guests.
I framed three letters spelling out the baby’s initials and placed them in various areas around the room.  Can you find them???

I also letterpressed Cam’s name on grey cards that I made into flags for the baby cakes.  This was a simple project using Gmund New Grey Card Stock, scissors, and Double Sided Score Tape, all available from CutCardStock.com

Below are more photos of how I decorated the event using hand-made paper pom-poms, ribbons, burlap, candles and other fun items.

I hope this post has given you a few ideas for planning and decorating your next baby shower.  I truly believe the little details help personalize an event and is a way to shower someone with love.

Love, Kathryn “Lolli”
