Hello there and welcome back! It’s Kristie Larsen here. I wanted to share with you some lovely flowers made with foil origami papers found over at CutCardStock.com. I made up a beautiful tag for Mother’s Day (yes, I know its over, but we can still celebrate mom, and I have yet to send my mother anything!) This tag is big enough to be a centre piece on a gift bag or even for the focal point of a card. (However the thickness would require hand delivery 🙂
I used some of the origami foil papers to make up two flowers (Dahlias) and some leaves. Let me should you how it is done. I hope my step by step instructions make sense! Please let me know if you would like some clarification. (The pink flower was made using a 3×3 square and the blue was using a 2.25 square.)
After making my first flower, I remembered I had these cool little doo-dads that I picked up from a local ribbon store in town. I thought they would go perfectly as the centre of my flowers.
I twisted a bunch together and slid them through the centre of the paper flower and secured it with some glue.
I then trimmed the ends and bent them down and covered them with a hand cut circle. This helps secure them and give me some more surface for adhering it to my tag.
After stamping my sentiment, I also made some origami leaves that you can find HERE and adhered it all to my tag with foam adhesive. There are so many origami instructions out there that the sky is the limit! You could make countless cards, tags, toppers etc with these papers. The store has so many styles and colours to choose from. It’s really quite addictive!
Here is a close up of the two flowers and finished tag. I used the Deckled edge white paper for the tag and added some ribbon and twine as a finishing touch.
I decided to add it to this recycled shopping bag I have kept because I just LOVED the look of it and thought it would come in handy some day. Seems I was right! The tag covered up the name of the store it originally came from but was still small enough to let some of the beautiful print peek out. Which is what I loved about it in the first place.
I just love how it turned out, sooooo I am going to show you another close up. I took a lot of them. 😉
