Hi everyone and happy April. Carol from the DT here. If you love making cards as much as I do and putting a little love and piece of yourself in them you want to make sure they’re as beautiful on the outside when you mail them. You’ve taken the time to make a special card for someone, why not present it in an envelope with an extra touch?
Today I’m sharing how I did a couple of things in one. The first was to make a card that worked for some good family friends who are married to each other and whose birthdays are one day apart. I needed something that worked for a man and a woman; feminine enough for her, but not too much so for him. I decided on the colors of lapis/navy, gold, and black.
The card itself is 5×7, white cardstock with an embossed panel using Curious Metallics shadow and a honeycomb embossing folder. I used a coordinating piece of blue, gold and gray handmade paper I had in my stash, a white panel mounted onto a piece of Stardream Metallic onyx. Added some glitter die cuts and gold cording to wrap the card.
I used a floral blossom stamp from my stash , stamped onto a scrap of the Stardream onyx and heat embossed with glitter gold embossing powder. While I had my stamp out, I decided I’d embellish my envelope with a faux-seal.
I used an A-7 basic envelope in navy to match my card. I slid a scrap of paper under the flap, stamped my image, heat embossed, and removed the scrap.
When closed it looks like a custom seal!.
To finish, I used a metallic gold pen to address the envelope.
A gratitude jar is a project that has been on my to-do list for a long time. The idea is to write down the things you are grateful for on a slip of paper and place the slips into a jar over the course of a year, pulling them out to read with loved ones…
I’m on a vintage kick these days and wanted to show you a couple more cards I made with a shabby chic theme. On this first one I used my new Silhouette Cameo electronic die cutting machine, which I absolutely love! This card uses layers, which I mentioned in my last post was a common…
Daisies are flowers that always seem to bring good cheer and a smile. Their uniform shape and bright yellow centers have a “happy” vibe about them that I love. For today’s project, I thought it would be fun to try using a daisy shaped die cut with some silvery card stock to create a shimmery…

While working on Holiday Cards, I decided to take a little break and make up a birthday card. So today, I am bringing you a quick and easy birthday card, but with a degree of simple elegance. The elegance comes from these beautiful papers, which look wonderful and are fabulous to the touch. So have…
